This is a plan for a wooden scooter dating from about 1974 when the Scouts on Johannesburg's West Rand held a scooter race. Not having a scooter, my father devised this plan to make one for me. He drew up the plans in the pdf file after several queries about the design. His estimated build time was one and a half hours.
It doubtless lacks modern safety features, such as brakes, but would still make a nice "vintage" scooter for anyone who wants one. Use a carriage bolt for each axle and for the steering. Use a lock nut (ie two nuts tighened against each other) to hold steering and fork pivots and axles. The plan is provided "as is", adapt and adjust to your use.
